Research Geologist
At the GRC we undertake research in geology, geophysics and reservoir engineering, focussing in particular on methods for integrated reservoir characterisation. The research is co-ordinated with the TOTAL Group's main technical centre in Pau, France and the work includes a close collaboration with universities.
A vacancy has arisen for a Research Geologist to work within Total E&P UK's Geoscience Research Centre (GRC) based in Aberdeen.
Working with a team of geoscientists, this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop research ideas into workable solutions and to present and report findings both internally and at external conferences. Supervision of student internship is also part of the R&D work.
Candidates should be completing or have completed a PhD in Geology (structural or sedimentology) with some relevant research or industrial experience in the Oil & Gas industry. You should also be able to demonstrate skills in earth modelling, reservoir characterisation, geomechanics and fault behaviour along with experience of commercial geomodelling packages. A high level of computer literacy and relevant programming skills would also be beneficial.
In addition to the above, you will be an enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in a long term career in applied research. Effective communication and presentation skills and the ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams are also essential.
