ENGINEER – DRILL AND BLAST
This position will be based at Martabe Site in Mining Department and reports directly to Senior Engineer – Drill and Blast.
The Engineer – Drill and Blast oversees drilling and blasting operations, ensuring engineering control, and supervising contractors. The main goal is to develop drill and blast designs that meet statutory requirements while optimizing project costs through efficient blasting outcomes.
Candidates for this role should possess the following qualifications and experience:
1. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering.
2. Minimum 2 years of experience in drill and blast operations in hard rock mining.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
4. Solid technical knowledge and skills in drill and blast operations.
5. Proficient in the use of Surpac, tie-up/in software, OrePro 3D, Split Desktop, Blastware, or equivalent drill and blast software packages.
6. Knowledge and ability to manage the administration and permitting of explosives and explosive magazines.
7. Holds a certificate of competency for a frontline operational supervisor.
8. Holds a Blaster Certificate and Blaster Permit.
9. Holds a Certificate of Explosive Blasting Operator Competency.
10. Preferably, candidates with an understanding and programming ability in the Power BI module, as well as experience and understanding of high-precision FMS drill and blast and Measure While Drilling (MWD) data.
Key responsibilities for the Engineer – Drill and Blast role include:
• Efficiently design drill and blast operations to achieve optimal fragmentation, minimize ore and dilution, ensure optimal digging and crushing/milling rates, and maintain high drill productivity.
• Support mining operations in maintaining sufficient inventory stock resulting from blasting, aligned with the mine plan and blast performance expectations.
