General Summary

This is a Senior Finance position and requires experience in joint venture accounting, entitlement calculations based on production sharing contracts, resolving complex accounting transactions plus training and development of junior staff. The role requires an experienced finance professional that also has the capability to address issues with impacts beyond their own team based knowledge relating to the management of oil and gas assets.

The position requires the capability to manage and develop relationships with joint venture partners, SKKMIGAS and other internal groups within Talisman. The candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to deliver results in a challenging business environment with minimal supervision and guidance.

Key Job Responsibilities

Performs general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements, such as balance sheet, profit and loss statements and capital expenditure schedules.
Prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions while ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial records.
Generates management information with the capability to provide analysis and explanations to senior management in regional and corporate offices
Interrogates and report management data supplied by JV partners.
Understand Work Program & Budget and Financial Quarterly Reporting Process.
Prepares and analyzes statutory financial statements and reports based on IFRS and supports statutory audits and reviews.
Understands, calculates and reports royalties based on entitlement models as define in PSC contracts.
Prepares, records and interprets DD&A, Over/Under Lift positions, Asset Retirement Obligations, Deferred Tax and severance provisions.
Ensures adherence with group internal control procedures and Sox compliance.

Qualification

Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance. Preferably a Certified Public Accountant
Minimum 10 years of experience in joint venture role in oil & gas company.
Familiarity with the accounting rules regarding oil and gas companies, this includes Statement of Financial Accounting Standards No. 19 regarding reporting requirements of Oil and Gas Producing Companies.
Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and Sarbanes-Oxley.
Familiarity with SAP is an advantage.
