The Team

You will be joining a team of experienced geotechnical engineers involved in conducting ground investigations in remote locations, sites with difficult access and soft ground conditions. They have also consulted on former industrial areas and managed a number of brownfield ground investigations (including sites with both underground and surface mining, landfill operations and industrial processes). In addition to land-based surveys, we also have experience in near-shore ground investigations for a variety of permanent and mobile marine structures.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experience enthusiastic geotechnical engineer to assist in the design and implementation of ground investigations for wind farms in a variety of environments including remote locations and brownfield sites. You will also be responsible for preparing the tender information & planning applications using your expert knowledge to each project. As project manager you will manage the contractors involved in each project, coordinate between statutory bodies and local authorities with the clients and contractors. You will prepare project reports including the budget. You will conduct site visits to assess geotechnical and physical constraints to proposed development through the use of field mapping, geomorphology, peat stability appraisals etc.

Qualifications

With a proven track records doing geotechnical site investigation work, you will have a good understanding on methods, laboratory tests, engineering geology, soil mechanics and hydrogeology. At a minimum you will be degree qualified in a geotechnical engineering discipline. You will have strong planning experience running a number of projects. You will have good communication, negotiation and influencing skills. You will the ability to identify on site issues and deal with them effectively.

You must hold a full driving licence, be willing to travel and maintain a reasonable level of fitness.
