Overview of Position: The Wheatstone Project is one of Australia’s largest resource projects and along with the Gorgon Project, will help position Chevron as a major liquefied natural gas (LNG) operator in Australia and globally. Front-end engineering and design (FEED) work has started and Chevron is currently looking for creative, knowledgeable and skilled people to join this exciting project.

As Petroleum Engineer within the Wheatstone Project Subsurface team you will be responsible for petroleum engineering aspects of the subsurface technical environment to commercialise the Wheatstone and Iago gas resources.

Position Details:

Key skills and experience required:

* Highly qualified and experienced professional with an extensive petroleum engineering background gained from previous experience in a similar role
* Previous experience with field unitisation, joint venture partner management and major capital project subsurface technical assurance
* Strong leadership and relationship building skills with the ability to successfully engage and manage cross-functional teams
* Knowledge of petroleum engineering/production software
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Experience in managing large scale, complex drilling projects would be advantageous
* A focus on operational excellence and an incident and injury free environment

The successful candidate will:

* Coordinate reservoir simulation and production forecasting
* Asess variations of the development plan specific to commercial issues and the impact to the project production facilites that may be related to future commercial opportunities
* Maintain and update gross and Chevron share estimated OGIP and resource distributions, in consultation wth the Lead Petroleum Engineer
* Prepare and collate reservoir data
* Prepare and conduct technical presentations to both internal and external stakeholders
* Coordinate a multi-disciplinary team which will include colleagues from Environment, Drilling, Facilities, Logistics, Petroleum Engineering and Earth Science teams, as well as external contract resources
* Provide petroleum engineering technical leadership and work scope
* Manage resources and associated capital and operating budgets
* Provide technical and operational leadership to colleagues, and coaching and mentoring to other team members
* Prepare technical reports and submissions related to lease retention
