Overview of Position: The Chevron-operated Gorgon Project is one of the world’s largest natural gas projects and Australia’s largest single resource project. It will develop the Greater Gorgon Area gas fields, Australia’s largest-known natural gas resource and includes the construction of a gas plant on Barrow Island off the north-west coast of Western Australia. Chevron is currently looking for creative, knowledgeable and skilled people to join the Gorgon Project team as initial construction works starts.
Chevron Australia currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Assistant to join our Gorgon Project Subsurface Team. This interesting and challenging role will be responsible for providing technical, earth science and engineering support to the team.
Position Details:
Key responsibilities include:
* Management and continual development of technical information stored on the database system
* Providing cost control support to the team, including creation of work requests and monitoring of invoices
* Managing the integrated subsurface schedule and liaising with the key stakeholders for monthly updates
* Accurate and timely generation of technical reports
* Providing geological and geophysical support to the team
* Supporting the development of content and contributing to technical workshops and meetings
* Managing the creation of graphical illustrations such as diagrams, charts, graphs, maps, montages and other graphic displays to be used in analysis, technical reports and presentations
* Managing the monitoring of competitor seismic and drilling activity
To be successful in this role you will:
* Be a confident and clear communicator, both written and verbal

* Be flexible, adaptable, reliable, honest and trustworthy
* Be a team player who can work effectively with a variety of people
* Possess sound knowledge and understanding of geology and geophysics, preferably with a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
* Have experience in a technical role and / or experience in the oil and gas industry
* Demonstrate excellent IT skills, including experience with Unix / mapping software
* Have excellent organisational and time management skills
