EPA (c8.gg) Senior Operations Surveyor
Requirements:
BSc or MSc degree holder in Geomatics Engineering or Hydrographic Surveying or relevant science with 8 years of relevant work experience preferably in the offshore oil and gas industry;
Candidates with less working experience may also be considered but must have following skills and personal attributes:
Good knowledge and experience with latest hydrographic survey systems, software and applications, including DGPS, acoustic positioning systems, swathe bathymetry and GIS;
Thorough understanding of hydrographic and geodetic survey principles;
Competent with latest IT/IM tools and conversant with standard office applications and survey software;
Be prepared to work for short durations on survey vessels, construction barges, drilling rigs and weekends when required by the job.
Good communicator and team player with a sense for good Health, Safety and Environmental standards;
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for this position;
Authorisation to work in Malaysia is required for this position.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be a member of the survey operations team in EPA’s Geomatics department based in Miri and will be responsible for the day to day planning, coordination and quality control of following activities:
Seabed and shallow hazards and obstructions surveys for rig and platform sites in shallow and deepwater locations;
Precise acoustic survey positioning for deepwater operations;
Offshore pipeline pre-lay, post-lay, and surveillance and inspection surveys;
Offshore platform/jacket and pipe lay installation operations;
2D & 3D seismic survey positioning support;
Geotechnical, geochemical and environmental sampling operations;
Demarcation and positioning services for rigs, barges & workboats by anchor handling tugs or remote positioning;
Survey data processing and the preparation of standard and customized hydrographic maps and charts with support from the department’s GIS mapping section;
Liaising with customers (marine captains, geologists, geophysicists, environmental scientists, well, structural and pipeline engineers) and the department’s contract offshore surveying resources, which include a long-term survey vessel and call out resources for site surveys and positioning operations.
