WELL ENGINEER DESIGN (Code : DTHC-08-08)
Purpose of Job
• To support the Asset teams with activities related to Field Development Plans and development of Well Data Packs.
• Work in multi-disciplined teams with Geologists, Reservoir Engineers and Production Technologists on field development studies.
• Introducing new/novel technology into the well delivery process with the main objective of reducing technical cost.
• Has a responsibility to provide input into the Asset Reference Plan.
• BSP has existing, challenging projects ahead including ERD wells, Smart completions, Complex trajectories, managed pressure drilling, Casing drilling, Expandables, etc.
Principle Accountabilities
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)
• Ensures full compliance with the BSP HSE policies and procedures, HSE Standards and all other appropriate HSE documentation.
• Conduct relevant HSE-Critical activities.
• Sets a clear leadership example and promotes a high degree of HSE awareness among subordinates.
• Reviews effectiveness of rig HSE management.
• Provides input to the Well Engineering HSE Plan and is accountable for follow-up and documented close-out of individual and subordinates action points identified in plan.
Upfront Well Planning
• Strives for full adherence to the Company Well Delivery Process description and the associated time line.
• Assists in Field Development Planning work (Well engineering input) for development projects.
• Prepares departmental input for well proposals and ensures that the well proposals are optimised with respect to well quality, HSE and cost efficiency, through Unit Cost Challenge sessions and Shared Objective Workshops.
• Designs wells (conceptual designs), generates cost estimates Level 1 & 2. and manages the generation of activity proposals.
• Prepares proposed activities in full compliance with Company procedures, policies and guidelines.
• Initiates and implements new techniques to improve performance and actively pursues input from the technology section.
Field Development Planning and Technology Support
• Participates in feasibility studies, to identify projects, which meet companies screening criteria.
• For those studies which meet the criteria deliver well engineering input in to the FDP.
• Responsible for selecting new and novel ideas with the view to introduction into the Company s operations.
• Co-ordinate/liaise with the service industry on new developments, introducing field trials into operations as appropriate.
• Responsible for identifying new technology opportunities with the potential for breakthrough performance in the Company s.
• Continuously update knowledge of new technologies and developments by attending appropriate courses, seminars, workshops and conferences.
Contract Management
• Ensures continuity in contractual coverage for well engineering equipment, material and services normally covered under the contracts.
• Ensures contract expenditure is monitored along with other Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
• Identifies the need for contract variations for equipment, materials and services not covered under the contract, initiates variations and ensures variations are timely in place.
Management of Costs
• Responsible for compilation and submission of Cost Estimates for the activity proposals, using the approved procedures and formats (software).
• Verifies all available cost data for inclusion in cost estimates to ensure required accuracy is achieved.
• Liaise with Business Planning & Economics and sub-surface team on the economic viability of a well.
New Technology
• Where applicable review and introduce new technology into the Asset.
• Make use of global lateral learning through wells global network and import best practice.
• Will be appointed with introducing new technology into the well delivery process with the main objective to reduce UTC.
• Promotes performance of Well Engineering department within the Company and globally.
Staff Development, Mentorship
• Mentors and supports selected young graduate staff with a view to assist them in developing into mature, balanced, assertive and motivated engineers.
• Develops individual Performance Records, including target setting and review and compiles annual performance review reports.
• Develops individual development plans and represents them in the annual performance and potential review cycle.
• Advises, instructs, guides and motivates subordinate staff in the efficient performance of their duties.
• Ensures that meaningful Performance Records are written and review takes place for all subordinates.
Networking
• Maintains regular contact with Well Delivery Team, drilling contractor and service company representatives to ensure mutual understanding of latest operational capabilities and opportunities, which could be implemented in projects, as well as to identify opportunities for quality improvements.
• Maintains regular contact with other Asset Teams, both within and outside the assigned Asset Unit.
• Maintains an international network of contacts, to pass on learning and to keep abreast of the latest developments in new technologies and best practices.
• Updates local and global learning databases with experienced gained.
Skill/Competence
• Possession of a valid IWCF certificate at combined surface and sub-sea supervisor level.
• Attendance of relevant Advanced Drilling Techniques course.
• Good interpersonal relations and communication skills as well as good working knowledge of well engineering software packages are also required.
• Able to work in teams while maintaining the capability and flexibility for independent action.
• Selected candidates will be encouraged to follow the Shell Group “Round 2” Distance Learning Programme with the aim of obtaining this qualification within two years.
Minimum Qualifications and experience required

WELL ENGINEER OPERATIONS (Code: DTHC-07-08)
Purpose of Job
• To provide detailed planning and programming of drilling, completion and workover activities to deliver “fit for purpose” wells at maximum value in terms of cost versus benefits, which meet the requirements of the Development and/or Exploration function while adhering to Company s policies, procedures and guidelines on well delivery operations.
• To implement the “Delivering The Limit (DTL)” methodology. Organise and facilitate challenge sessions DWOP s and AAR s for their projects and act as operations engineer through execution phase on some projects, for which the "cradle to grave" principle can be applied.
• Maintain and monitor the companies lessons learned database and ensure transfer of knowledge across the rig teams.
• Identify opportunities to implement cost saving / value enhancing breakthrough performance in designs with application of radical techniques.
• Make use of global lateral learning through wells global network and import best practice.
• To ensure Company s HSE objectives are met.
Principle Accountabilities
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)
• Ensures full compliance with the company s HSE policies and procedures as detailed in the Safety Management System, HSE Standards and all other appropriate HSE documentation.

• Co-ordinate the follow-up and close-out of rig related action points resulting from near miss and incident reports and HSE visits and audits.
• Encourage well site staff in hazard awareness and risk assessment, generation of hazard-, near miss- and incident reports, by continuous attention and communication.
Well Planning & Execution of Operations

• Plan and execute all well operations in full compliance with Company procedures, policies and guidelines.
• Provide timely and accurate information to other departmental units on operational status and any deviations from plans, programmes, policies, procedures or guidelines.
• Facilitate short term planning and scheduling of personnel, equipment and services required for the well operations under his control. Ensures update of well files such as operations progress, writing of end of well reports and reporting / documentation of non-standard or irregular operations and events.
Concurrent Production and Rig Activities (CPRA)
• Manage CPRA involving the rig for which he is responsible.
• Ensure that the platform specific CPRA Safety Case has been issued and the requirements have been implemented prior to starting CPRA.
• Ensure full compliance with CPRA procedures for the duration of CPRA. Monitors co-ownership production deferment booked against CPRA activities.
Well Tie-In
• Manage well tie-in involving the rig for which he is responsible.
• Ensure that the all approvals have been obtained and that adequate procedures and documentation is available on the rig prior to prior to starting well tie-in.
• Liaise with Engineering and Construction departments in matters involving preparation for and execution of well tie-in activities.
Rig Move and Platform Access
• Schedule and attend rig move meetings and liaises with other departments during the preparation of the actual rig move.
• Ensure rig move, involving the rig are planned and discussed with all parties prior to execution of rig move operations.
• Verify and ensure well integrity in line with the company s procedures prior to performing any heavy lifts and/or approaching a platform/well jacket with his rig.
• Ensure platform/well jacket is handed over in accordance with procedures.
Management of Costs
• Review contents of the well proposal and challenges all aspects where alternative more cost effective solutions are available to meet the technical demands and requirements of the well objectives.
• Compilation and submission of the Level 3 and Value of Work Done (VOWD) Cost Estimates using the approved procedures and formats (software).
• Challenge and verifies all available cost data for inclusion in cost estimates to ensure required accuracy is achieved. Monitors and challenges the reported daily cost using the approved cost reporting facilities.
• Monitor the accumulating well cost versus the planned cost, reporting all variances to the departmental units as appropriate.
• Prepares any programme amendment costings as required and ensures necessary approvals are obtained.
Close Out, Reporting & Performance Monitoring
• Ensure the Drilling Supervisor prepares end of the well reports in the approved format.
• Provide feedback to other departmental units on the use and recommendations for improvement of the software programmes in place.
• Provide feedback to the contracts section on the use and recommendations for improvement of the drilling rig and drilling service contracts.
• Provide input for the monthly MIR and quarterly review reports. Ensures all data derived from the wellsite operations is validated.
• Perform cost performance analysis as required and documents all operations where, technically feasible, more cost effective solutions exist.
• Ensure dissemination of the performance analysis by inclusion in the relevant section of the end of well report.
• Closely monitor all incidents of Non-Productive Time (NPT), ensures full and proper reporting of all incidence of NPT in WIS and end of well reports and reviews to capture cost implications and learning points.
• Maintain regular contact with drilling contractor and service company representatives to ensure mutual understanding of operational requirements as well as to identify opportunities for quality improvements.

DRILLING SUPERVISOR (Code : DTHC-06-08)
Purpose of Job
• The Drilling Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day on Site planning and execution of drilling, completion and workover activities, maintaining maximum Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and operational efficiency, at maximum value in terms of cost versus benefits.
• Responsible for implementation of all the company s policies, procedures and guidelines on drilling operations, safety and environmental protection.
• Representative on Site and is responsible for first line response and problem solving of non planned operations.
• Provides guidance and advice to Well-site Drilling Engineers and Assistant Drilling Supervisors and takes an active role in their training and development.
Principle Accountabilities
• Supervise the execution of drilling, completion and workover activities.
• Supervise the drilling contractors and service personnel to ensure all work performed conform to safety, quality and highest value requirements and in accordance with the well programme.
• Responsible for day-to-day optimisation of activities and provision of first line action and problem solving in case of unexpected events.
• Provide sufficient, accurate and timely data to office based Well Delivery Team members.
• Co-ordinate the timely supply of required equipment, consumables and specialist services to ensure uninterrupted continuation of operations.
• In order to broaden his experience and develop his communication skills, he may be assigned to high profile drilling activities such as HPHT and or Deep Water Exploration Drilling.
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)
• Ensure full Well-site compliance with the Company HSE policies and standards.
• Conduct relevant HSE-Critical activities.
• Ensure all personnel are fully conversant with, and strictly adhere to, their responsibilities as detailed in the Safety Case for the respective installation.

• Review effectiveness of rig HSE systems by inspection and audit. Reviews effectiveness of rig HSE communication by line inspection.
• Promote the practical implementation of the Hazard and Effects Management Process (HEMP).

• Co-ordinate activities on the rig affecting HSE matters.
• Ensure all non-routine hazardous work is performed under the permit to work (PTW) system.
• Ensure all near miss incidents and incidents resulting in injury or damage to assets, equipment or the environment are reported and that assigned incidents and near miss events are investigated, reported and documented.
• Shall be certified PTW Authorised Signatory.
Emergency Response
• Co-ordinate the Company s response at the Site and as On-Scene Representative to assists the Drilling Contractor in his function as On-Scene Commander in dealing with an emergency.
• Is fully conversant with Company and Contractor Emergency Response Procedures and ensures the rig and Contractor is fully prepared for an emergency.
• Test rig site emergency preparedness at regular intervals. Shall have attended the Company On-Scene Commander course and be assessed competent, within 6 months of assuming the function.
Concurrent Production and Rig Activities (CPRA)
• Is familiar with Concurrent Production and Rig Activity (CPRA) procedures (TMS-4) and the platform specific CPRA Safety Case and ensures that all operations are performed in full compliance with these procedures.
• Supervise non Well Engineering staff and contractors in execution of CPRA Third Activities.
• Take a pro-active role in the preparation and execution of CPRA activities and ensures the weekly CPRA.
Personnel
• Promote an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect amongst all personnel onboard the work unit or at the drilling site.
• Provide active support to Well-site Drilling Engineers in their development efforts, in particular in preparation for their professional certification examinations.
• Train new Well-site Drilling Engineers in their prime roles and responsibilities, in particular logistics management, filing and reporting. Participates in staff appraisal exercises.
Reporting of daily operations
• Report directly to the Well Delivery Team but functionally reports to the Senior Drilling Engineer on all matters pertaining to the conduct of operations at the Well-site in accordance with the requirements of the Well Engineering Manual.
• Input and verifies the accuracy of Well Information System (WIS) daily drilling reports.
• Responsible for processing end of well reports, as per Well Engineering Manual standards, for selected wells.
Contract management
• Responsible for the implementation of all relevant contracts and their variations.
• Responsible for the monitoring and reporting of contractor service quality.
• Inform contract holders of all service provision deficiencies and contractor non-compliance.
Personal Development
• Maintain an active interest in and familiarizes with operations.
• Is present during the Drilling the Well on Paper (DWOP) and other meetings taking place as part of the activity planning process.
• Maintains the Skills Portfolio Logbook up to date.
• Performs small office based projects in well engineering subjects during time off.
Management of costs
• Responsible for the daily expenditure and reporting using cost reporting facility.
• Calculate the cost of services execution based on the job execution record and contract rates.

• Support and contribute to the Hydrocarbon resource volume and production forecasting administration, and annual Business Plan processes.
• Liaison with the shareholders to ensure timely value assurance, budget approvals and performance reporting.
• Participate in peer assists both within Company and regionally (VtV, VARs).

To provide comprehensive Production Technology expertise to the subsurface study team in a Petroleum Engineering organisation.

Principle Accountabilities
• Review and analyse all available petrophysical data of his area of studies, enhance and validate petrophysical interpretation in order to optimise use and integration of data in the construction of static and dynamic reservoir models.

Purpose of Job
To provide comprehensive production and reservoir geology input within a multi-disciplinary team environment intoa full field development studies with primary focus on maturing water flood opportunities.
Principle Accountabilities
• Work in close collaboration with multi-disciplinary team consisting of production geophysicists & geologist, reservoir engineers, production Technologists, Petrophysicist, well engineers and front-end facilities engineers supported by technical assistants, study team leader and the development leadership team to define the work scope.
• Contribute to the planning and scheduling of study project and on the key milestones such as reviews/challenge sessions, VARs, reserves booking and reporting. Familiarity of the OPMG, V2V and the VAR process is an advantage.
• Participate in internal and external reviews as well as audits on studies and resource volumes, VARs- Perform basic data collection for the study, QC and validation.
• Identify, quantify and optimise secondary recovery (water injection) opportunities in a mature area. The work will include detailed integrated reservoir geological modelling.
• Carry out all required evaluations prior to the start of 3D static modelling.
• Identify and assess risks and uncertainties, apply multiple scenarios approach in the field development planning study leading to the maturing of the development concept.
• Contribute to the field development plan documentation.
• Provide support to the 3D seismic interpretation as required.
• Firm up further oil development and water injection drilling targets, prepare the well data packs and monitor the drilling activities.
• Provide input and advice for operational activities (e.g. well proposals, logging, testing) and well planning and evaluations.

• Other seismic software skills (e.g. Landmark, 123DI, Spirit II, 3D Volume Interpretation Tools) are essential as well as familiarity with the latest developments in Qualitative Interpretation and re-processing.
• Petrel skills, particularly for structural modelling are highly desirable.
• Previous work experience in mature field areas, preferentially characterised by water injection schemes, would also be an advantage.
• A proven ability to apply innovative and cost-effective ways of working is expected.
Minimum Qualifications and experience required
• A degree in Geoscience or equivalent.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in 3D seismic interpretation.
