About the position
The Drilling Operations Manager will have the responsibility for the Operations Department's planning / execution of offshore drilling and drilling related decisions, which impact growth, profitability and returns of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
•Champion and supervise the Operations Department to attain and/or exceed the goals of quality, efficiency, productivity and cost controls.
•Orchestrate with expertise the various operational drilling projects for excellence. Inclusive of the management edicts of stable operational and cost controls.
•Develop and implement new strategies for upgrade and improvement of the offshore drilling rigs and drilling processes on a regular basis
•Commence and review all initiatives requiring capital authorisation
•Initiate and maintain health and safety procedures to ensure compliance to all local regulatory agencies
•Develop assessment criteria for usage in skill and competency testing in order to secure present needs and future requirements
•Provide input to a strategic plan for the drilling operations
•Responsible for the day to day drilling operations within the company
•Set and manage performance targets/ensure staffing levels are met and managed
•Set and monitor operational budgets
•Liaison with the operator's local drilling group to ensure the operator's drilling program is successfully completed
•Work with contract personnel in preparing bids, negotiation of operational disputes and settlements with operators
•Coordinate all rig and equipment movements
•Review, approve and submit CAPEX request for equipment and materials
•Confer and cooperate with other management personnel in formulating administrative and operational policies and procedures
•Ensure operations are conducted in safe and professional manner in accordance with my client's policies and procedures
•Initiate and participate in training of rig personnel
•Preparing capital expenditure budget for the Operations Department
•Ensure that continuous drilling contracts and drilling equipment are fit for purpose of producing the contractual output.
•Lead and direct the Operations Department to meet/or exceed the operational goals of quality, efficiency, productivity and cost controls
•Manage the supplier relationships in order to leverage suppliers to guarantee best price of equipment and materials and manage the cash/risk exposure
•Seek consensus in developing Key Performance Indicators (KPI) applicable to the evaluation of my client's services and capabilities


Knowledge / Experience Skills Required:
1.Proven track record of successful achievement of operational excellence in a MNC energy, oil & gas exploration, offshore drilling contractor or floater drilling organization
2.Consistent success in the improvement of planning and scheduling of offshore drilling activities
3.Senior work planning and project prioritisation skill sets
4.Experience in the development and measurement of Key Performance Indicators
5.Excellent motivational skills
6.Team leadership with persuasive communication skills
7.Solid team player with experience working in a matrix organization
8.Sound ability to measure performance and deliver the specified organizational objectives
9.Track record in initiating, implementing and managing capital projects
10.Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
11.Fluent command of English
12.Excellent verbal and written communication skills
