Technical Advisor Environment

BHP Billiton is currently undertaking a study to determine the feasibility of developing a significant laterite nickel deposit in Eastern Indonesia. The opportunity would involve the construction of world-class mining facilities, a process plant and associated infrastructure.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You must be degree-qualified in a relevant environmental or related discipline possessing solid analytical and problem solving skills. With a comprehensive understanding of environmental legislation, you will have experience setting up ISO14001 systems in the resources sector. You should also have knowledge of environmental impact assessment requirements, experience in issues such as water, waste, biodiversity, land and energy management along with a solid understanding of the Indonesian Health, Safety and Environmental regulatory framework. Your proven leadership and ability to drive continuous improvement will assist in achieving success in this important role.

POSITION SYNOPSIS

In this challenging role, you will be responsible for the provision of quality Environmental Management leadership during the study phase of this project, through the development of policies, procedures and performance standards for environmental management. Reporting to the Stakeholder Relations Manager, you will be a key member of the study team with the responsibility to maximize the site’s safety and environmental performance over the duration of the project. You will be actively involved in implementing long term safety, health and environmental management strategies to lay the foundation for our aim of Zero Harm. You will be accountable for the development of environmental management systems aligned with BHP Billiton and international standards, the coordination of environmental impact statements, environmental risk register and the tracking of performance.



This is a Jakarta-based position with travel required.
